Group instruction

As learning a language is a communicative process, learning in a group offers the benefit that you are able to practise the language in a comfortable setting with others who have the same interest. Our groups are small and, with the exception of conversation classes, comprise no more than six learners.

Tutoring

Tutoring sessions are structured according to the specific needs of the learner (or learners) and do not require a course textbook. Classes can be arranged for one person or a small group of two to a maximum of three persons. The cost per person for each lesson decreases with each additional person (see: rate calculator). Tutoring is appropriate for any level of learner including complete beginners and advanced students.

A1 (Beginner)

The A1 module is for complete beginners -- those who have little or no knowledge of the English language. At the end of this programme you'll be able to:

1. understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases;
2. introduce yourself and others and ask and answer questions about personal details;
3. interact with persons who talk slowly and clearly and are prepared to help.

Course duration: 72 hours

A2 (Elementary)

The A2 module is for elementary students -- those who have attained the objectives outlined by the A1 syllabus. At the end of this programme, you'll be able to:

1. understand sentences and frequently used expressions in common relevant areas (e.g., basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment);
2. communicate in simple and routine tasks;
3. describe, in simple terms, your background, immediate environment, and matters in areas of immediate need.

B1 (Intermediate)

The B1 module is for intermediate students -- those who have attained the objectives outlined by the A2 syllabus. At the end of this programme, you'll be able to:

1. understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.;
2. deal with most situations likely to arise while travelling in an area where English is spoken;
3. produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar;
4. describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions;
5. give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

B2 (Upper Intermediate)

The B2 module is for upper intermediate students -- those who have attained the objectives outlined by the B1 syllabus. At the end of this programme, you'll be able to:

1. understand the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics;
2. interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite pleasant for both parties.
3. produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects.
4. explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the pros and cons of various options.

C1/C2 (Advanced / Proficient)

The C1/C2 module is for advanced students -- those who have attained the objectives outlined by the B2 syllabus. At the end of this programme, you'll be able to:

1. understand with ease virtually everything heard or read.
2. summarise information from different spoken and written sources.
3. reconstruct arguments and accounts in a coherent presentation.
4. express yourself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely.
5. differentiate finer shades of meaning even in complex situations.

Conversation

Conversation classes focus on current events and topical issues. These classes place much more emphasis on listening and speaking skills than reading and writing skills. The aim of these classes is to build learners' confidence in communicating with English. Improving overall fluency is the focus of these lessons.
